EVO8000 VFD on Creasing Machine

A creasing machine, a machine for forming local projections and depressions (creases) on the surfaces of sheet stock so that the carton can be easily folded out, is an important part of a carton automatic production line. In this case study, each of the two cam machines is driven by motors. The machine needs a large starting torque, and the load is not constant but changes periodically. Therefore, it requires a VFD with excellent overload capacity to drive stably.

 

 

 

Technical Requirements

Because the load is a cam structure and changes significantly, the inverter speed fluctuation must be small.

The inverter has to boost a large starting torque, especially at low frequencies. It must start normally at 3 Hz.

The inverter overload capacity must reach 180% instantaneously.

The frequency output of the inverter must be read immediately from a human-machine interface through the RS485 communication protocol.

 

 

Solution

 

The EVO8000 industrial VFD is used for V/F control without encoder, replacing the vector control of the previous VFD. The speed of the EVO8000 is from the analog input terminal and manually assigned by a potentiometer connected to the customer's console panel. By using the monitoring parameters of the VFD, the customer is able to see the VFD's operating status, operating current, operating voltage, operating frequencies and other important parameters in real time.

 

 

 

 

Technical Advantages and Customer Benefits

The IGBT module has a large margin and is able to support high current and long-time operation to meet customers' demand for extended production time.

Through the network interface of the RS485 of the VFD, the customer is able to use LiteON-Studio software to upload modified parameters. The software can also record waveforms to expedite troubleshooting.

There are multiple operating hardware buttons on the VFD's panel. The tuning process is as easy as setting up a few parameters.

The circuit board is coated to effectively prevent from dust contamination in the carton factory. This ensures the lifespan of the circuit board.
